About Atelier Neighbourhood
Atelier Neighbourhood is the label we make ourselves, alongside the brands we carry in the store. It started a few years ago as Quality Goods by Neighbourhood, with a heavyweight tee, a double-pleated trouser in Italian wool and a crewneck in super fine lambswool, made to sit beside the Scottish knitwear we already sold. Today everything we make carries the name Atelier Neighbourhood. It is still not a full seasonal collection: each piece starts with something we kept looking for and could not find in exactly the right yarn, fit or colour.
Knitwear is the heart of the line, made by knitters in Scotland, Belgium and Germany. The merino Milano rib longsleeve has a dense, smooth knit that sits between a T-shirt and a sweater, and it is the piece we wear most. Around it are merino crewnecks, a soft cable crew neck, a fisherman knit with roots in traditional workwear knitting, a two-colour contrast crew, a knitted polo with a three-button placket, and crewnecks in super fine lambswool and in wool and cashmere. The colours stay close to the rest of the store: navy, bordeaux, brown, off white and a few quieter tones like pastel green and petrol.
The line also includes a few pieces to wear with the knitwear: the boxy, heavyweight Atelier issue 01 and Wonder T-shirts, ribbed merino beanies with a wide folded cuff and no logo, and triangle scarves in merino that sit flat across the shoulders.
