Duck season: the Ralph Lauren Big Fit Chino
After Dianne's reel about it, we received a lot of questions about one pair of trousers: the Big Fit Chino from Ralph Lauren's Fall Winter 2026 collection, a khaki chino with small, colourful ducks embroidered down the legs. So here is the story behind it, in her words and in the photos from our studio.
The fit
"A really cool fit," says Dianne. "It has a high waist and it's quite wide through the leg." The Big Fit is Ralph Lauren's roomiest chino and draws on the relaxed, oversized shape the brand was known for in the nineties. That makes it a deliberate contrast to the slimmer chinos most of us already own. The trousers fall straight and loose, and they are meant to be worn that way.
Why the ducks
"What makes these trousers iconic are the ducks," Dianne explains. "They come back in Ralph Lauren's collection every year, and the brand is really known for them."
The ducks are embroidered and inspired by American hunting, part of the outdoor heritage the brand keeps returning to. Here it is done with a light touch: a handful of ducks gives a classic chino some character and a bit of humour, without turning it into a novelty piece.
A full Ralph Lauren look
For the shoot we styled Giel in a complete Ralph Lauren outfit, built around American heritage and sportswear. The chino is worn with the down-filled harrington in khaki uniform, which combines a water-repellent outer fabric with a filling of 75% duck down and 25% duck feather, and a bi-swing back for extra freedom of movement. Tone on tone, with a dark shirt and a tie, it becomes a smart look with a wink.
For every day, the chino works just as well with a plain sweatshirt or an overshirt and a pair of leather shoes or boots.
